Royal jelly is the secretion of the glandular system of the honey bee. This "super food" of bees is specially mixed with enzymes and is fed to every bee that is to become queen. It is the exclusive food of the queen bee, which allows it to lay up to 3,000 eggs a day during its six-year period of life. Worker bees that are not fed on it live only four to six weeks.
